Frequently asked questions

How much does a Kithouse cost?

The fully-finished, ready-to-move (RTM) Kithouse Premiere starts at $165,000. A build-it-yourself price tag starts at $120,000 and comes as a ready-to-assemble kit. Both options ship from Erickson, Manitoba. You can anticipate additional costs for foundation, electrical or plumbing outside the building’s shell, solar panel capability and any special customizations.

Can I ship a Kithouse?

You’ve got options! Your fully constructed, ready-to-move (RTM) home can be shipped within 1,000 kilometres (620 miles) of Erickson, Manitoba. There is flexibility in that number, we can move more or move less depending on road accessibility and things like power lines and bridges. If a shipping container can go there, so can we. The Kithouse Premiere can be shipped almost anywhere in the world! This makes it super easy for us to build Kithouses in populated areas and in more remote places, without compromising our quality or affordability.

I am a business looking for housing solutions, is this something Kithouse can help with?

You're in the right place! We're super passionate about finding solutions to the issues you're running into. We understand how hard it can be to find housing options that check all the boxes you need to have checked. That's part of the reason we started Kithouse. Our homes are designed to be incredibly energy-efficient, durable and easy to ship or move in rural and remote, colder climate locations. We're a great option if you're looking for staff housing, social housing or work-camp housing solutions. Please get in touch - we would be more than happy to prepare a project-specific proposal for you!

Is there somewhere I can go and see an already built Kithouse?

Absolutely! Did you know you can rent and stay in an actual, functioning Kithouse? Book your next trip to Riding Mountain National Park - where the Riding Mountain Kithouse resides, nestled between dense, colourful forest and sprawling rolling hills. Located in Onanole, Manitoba, it is available for bookings through AirBnB at this link: This is a great way to 'test drive' the home and decide if it is a good fit for you. If you're nearby, you should check out a Kithouse build in person! We're currently building at our location in Erickson, MB. Send an email our way at, and book a tour of the project under construction.

Can I customize a Kithouse?

There are a ton of customization options for you to choose from so you can make a Kithouse your home. You can decide on things like siding: do you want cement board or would you prefer metal? What colour would you like it to be? Cabinetry finishes? Light fixtures? Flooring? All customizable. Almost every interior and exterior finish have at least two options, coupled with several colour choices. The bonus: most of these choices don't affect the final price. And, if you don't like our options, you can choose to take out that piece from the final price which will allow you to shop locally or select your own. This is the case for flooring, cabinetry, siding and all lighting and plumbing fixtures. You decide what works best for you, and we're eager to work directly with you on figuring out what that is.

When are the other models coming out?

The Kithouse Premiere rocks! We're entirely focused on meeting the current demand for this model right now. If you're looking into buying more than one unit, we're open to working together on a design that meets your needs and integrates the current success of the Premiere model being a simple, affordable two-bedroom home that thrives in cold climates.
